About

My name is Andrei Cǎuş. I am an interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of political sociology, international development, and computational social science. My work focuses on how disinformation, populism, and structural inequalities reshape institutional trust and human development. By combining quantitative text-as-data pipelines with qualitative, field-based sociology, I examine the societal impacts of elite rhetoric and democratic erosion, with a specific focus on post-communist and developing contexts.

Beyond traditional academic frameworks, I hold a deep passion for art and alternative methodologies of looking at the world. I believe research should be conducted in 'different' ways—driven by close seeing, empathetic understanding, and translating complex societal data into highly visual, public-facing formats like documentaries and interactive media. Currently pursuing a dual graduate track with a Research Master’s in International Development at the University of Amsterdam and an MSc in Political Science at Leiden University, my goal is to produce rigorous data science that actively engages the public through creative storytelling.
